Reduce your water consumption
- Use flow control valves for the shower and the taps, in order to reduce by approximately 50% your annual invoice (of water) :
- Use an adjusting device of the flow for the WC
- Choose renewable energies to produce your hot water. Insulate the hot water pipes (empirically: the insulation will be twice thicker than the diameter of the conduits)
- Let descale and regulate your water-heater periodically and limit the temperature to 60°C
- Prefer the shower instead of the bath
- Use the washing machine and dishwasher only when it is necessary. Avoid employing them when they are partially filled. In addition, the preliminary wash is only necessary when the linen or the dishes are very dirty
- Prefer the system of two sinks (one for the washing and another for the rinsing) rather than washing your dishes with running water
- Choose a mixer tap as far as possible rather than a system with two taps, because its flow is less important
- Let repair the leaking taps and flush. A leaking tap wastes approximately 10 liters per day, whereas a simple filament of water in the flush can use from 200 to 500 liters per day!
- Simple systems of rainwater recovery exist and make possible to cover the major part of the requirements of water for a household. Thus, this can feed the W.C., the garden, the washbasins, the washing machine, etc.
